Specific Issue or Prohibited Steps Order

Specific Issue Order: where the parties are unable to agree on an important decision, an application for a specific order can be made. Example – Requesting the court to decide on where the child will continue his or her education. A prohibited steps order is where one party would like to prevent the other from doing something that related to the child. Example – Taking the decision to move to another country with the child, preventing the other parent from maintaining contact with the child.

Applying for a child arrangement order Before an application is made to the courts, it is advised to negotiate or come to an agreement regarding the issue via mediation sessions or in private. However, where there is a circumstance that is deemed urgent or involves episodes of domestic violence, the negotiation stage can be overlooked. To begin the application process, the applicant is required to fill out a form, coupled with a £215 fee. Finally, a hearing will be scheduled several weeks after the application.
