If you are at risk of homelessness or in an unsecured housing situation, you can ask your council for help. You should do this as soon as possible; you don’t have to wait until the eviction date to contact your council for help.
There are charitable services that can help you. Crisis and Shelter are two large charities that operate nationally. There are also many other regional charities, including St Mungos and Centrepoint.
If you have been evicted and you have nowhere to stay, you may be able to get emergency help from your council. You will be considered priority need if you are:
- Living with a child
- Pregnant or living with a pregnant person
- Homeless due to emergency (fire, flood etc.)
- 16 or 17 and social services can’t help you
- 18-20 and have been living in care
